My most favourite thing in the beauty world – Matte Lipstick!
This years MAC The Matte Lip Collection consists of 22 shades. Some of them are relaunches and have been available at MAC for quite some time where as others are brand spanking new! Best of all every lipstick launched in this collection is now apart of their permanent line! But that’s not all! Wait for it…. MAC has turned 2 of their most popular lipliners into lipsticks, Stone and Whirl.
There is a shade for everyone in this collection. From sweet pinks and subtle nudes to sultry reds and royal blues. I picked up 3 unique colours that I personally have nothing like in my lipstick collection, Stone, Insitgator and Matte Royal.
Instigator and Stone
Instigator – is a deep plum.
When I walked into my mamas house wearing this lipstick she asked me if it was Halloween and when my pastor got a look at me he asked me what was wrong with my lips! But what do they know right?! This lipstick is dark! The darkest one I own and I am in love with it. My Goth side is coming up and letting loose. The application of this lipstick is smooth, it wasn’t drying on my lips nor was it hydrating. The close up image of the lipstick shows patchiness that even with a couple applications didn’t let up. But the patchiness isn’t noticeable unless you’re up close and personal.
Nightmoth lip pencil and Instigator
Nightmoth – is a deep berry.
To pair along with Instigator I picked up the infamous Nightmoth lip pencil. I’ve seen this paired with cyber, sin and diva often. Nightmoth is pigmented, applies with ease and blends seamlessly with Instigator. I recommend picking this up if you own any of the colours I mentioned above 🙂
Stone – is a taupey grey.
This Lipstick my mama didn’t mind so much. I mean compared to Instigator this was normal for her. I was afraid that this lipstick would wash me out and make me look deadlike but that wasn’t the case! Surprisingly Stone is a very wearable colour. It kind of acts like a nude. I see this lipstick pairing well with many different eye looks. This lipstick was more hydrating and less matte than Instigator. Unlike Instigator there was no patchiness.
Matte Royal
Matte Royal – is a royal blue with purple undertones.
Prussian – is a navy blue with purple tint and a slight sheen finish.
I am OBSESSED with this blue lipstick! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it so much! My favourite out of the 3! My sister called me an alien when I wore it and oh boy you should have seen my mama’s face but I cannot get enough of Matte Royal. It is the first permanent blue lipstick in MACs collection. It’s fun, it’s bold, it’s simply gorgeous! It took some courage and some getting used to, to be able to wear it out but I got so many compliments everywhere I went with it that it was easy to warm up to. The lipstick glides on, doesn’t leave any patches or make any fine lines visible it’s perfection.
What I will complain about is how MAC didn’t launch a matching liner for matte royal. Prussian is actually an eyeliner. I originally bought the eyeliner Blooz to pair along with matte royal but I felt like it changed the colour of the lipstick to much. Made Matte Royal appear much darker than it really was. So I went back to MAC, swatched and swatched and Prussian was the best match for me. It’s not to dark or sparkley or to aqua greenish. The best thing about it is the purple undertone is there just as it is in Matte Royal.
