Maybelline Master Prime

A primer is such an important product to have in your makeup routine. It creates a base for all your makeup.  When Maybelline’s Master Prime primers were released I was hesitant to pick them up because of the mixed reviews. However I caved, picked it up and decided I would decide for myself!

So the primer comes in a squeeze tube similar to that of Too faced primed and poreless (Which I did a review on in the past). You get 30ml of product which is pretty much the standard amount you would get in any other product. There were 3 primers to choose from

100 – Blur+ smooth

200 – Blur + Illuminate

300 – Blur + Redness Control

I picked up blur + smooth only as I didn’t feel that I wanted an illuminating primer and as for redness I don’t have much of a problem with that.

Here’s a pic for what this primer claims to do.

Here is a pic of what the primer looks like.

In my experience this primer held true to all claims. It provided a smooth canvas for my makeup to be applied to. The consistency was like that of a lotion. It actually reminds me of the MAC prep+ prime skin visage primer. It wasn’t greasy, it wasn’t drying nor was it overly hydrating. I didn’t feel that it clogged my pores. The formula was light weight and absorbed into the skin quickly. Some reviewers complained that they didn’t see a change in their longevity of their makeup but as you can see this primer never claimed to help your makeup stay all day.

The verdict.. I like it! It’s a good primer if your skin type isn’t to oily. I have oily combo skin but since it’s winter it’s combo dry ( oily tzone and dry elsewhere) so this primer works well for me at the moment. In the summer months I’m not sure that it will. If you’re looking into getting a drugstore primer to use on the daily so you could save your high end primers for weekends or special occasions I’d advise to give Maybelline’s Master Primer primers a go.

Until next time Lippies.

Xoxo
