Hello friends! These last two weeks was spring break for my two school aged girlies and we were able to spend one of those weekends in Seattle, Washington. My family and I love that Seattle is just a short 2 hour drive away from Vancouver, BC. We come here often when we feel the urge for a mini getaway! Seattle with kids is a lot of fun for the whole family!
DAY 1
Pike Place Market
The first place we visited when we arrived in Seattle was the Pike Place Public Market. I LOVE this market.
There are so many wonderful local vendors selling fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood and you can find just about anything here. The girls love to look around for unique treasures.
My personal favourite aspect about this public market are the gorgeous floral arrangements! They are absolutely stunning and I couldn’t believe how inexpensive they were. Floral arrangements here at the Granville Island Public Market range between $24-$40 where as the ones from Pike Place Market range between $15-$20. Not to mention the arrangements that are on sale in Pike Place Market are grander and more elaborate.
Of course I can’t forget to mention that Pike Place Market is home to the first Starbucks. Complete with it’s original logo. Everyone who knows me knows that I am a tea drinker unless there is Starbucks on the table as an option. I type this now as I hold a grande mocha frappe in my hand! Expect there to be a crazy long line up for your usual Pike Place coffee.
Post Alley
Next we headed down Post Alley to the famous gum wall. The girls reaction.. “EWWWWWWW!!!”
Seattle Great Wheel
Then off we went to the Seattle Great Wheel!
The girls were SO excited to ride the ferris wheel, that was until we actually got on it. Standing tall at a height of 175 feet, this ferris wheel could give anyone second thoughts about riding it! But soon after the girls relaxed and began to enjoy the amazing views it had to offer.
Jefferson Park
After lunch Paul and I decided to take the girls to one of the many playgrounds. Jefferson park in particular had many great reviews so off we went to play!
This playground offered play structures suitable for all of my girls who range from ages 3-10 years. Paul even enjoyed climbing with the girls.
Afterwards we enjoyed some shopping at Westfield mall and dinner at Jollibee. Then it was time to rest at our hotel.
DAY 2
Kerry Park
After checking out of our hotel the first thing we did was have lunch at the buffet MIZUKI. This is our FAVOURITE all you can eat restaurant ever. They offer pretty much everything! Including all you can eat crab, lobster, crawfish and assorted fresh and cooked sushi. Unfortunately I was so concentrated on eating that I didn’t take any pictures but it was definitely worth the mention!
Out of the many, many, many times I’ve visited Seattle I had never gone to see the Seattle Skyline at Kerry Park. So I thought it was about time we checked it out!
I love visiting city skylines they’re always such a sight to see! Click here to read about my travels to the Chicago Skyline!
Not only did this park offer amazing views but it also had a playground down a couple steps that the girls had so much fun playing on.
And that concludes our short yet eventful family weekend in Seattle! Have you ever been to Seattle? Is it on your bucketlist of places to visit?
Until next time friends,
Yours always,
Beth xo
